Job Description
Job Description: Azure Integration Services Architect
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of enterprise-scale integration strategies, patterns, and standards using Azure Integration Services.
Architect solutions using a combination of Azure services including Azure Logic Apps, Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, and Azure Functions.
Design and implement API-led, event-driven, and microservices-based integration architectures.
Leverage understanding of enterprise integration patterns (EIP) – commonly found in platforms like BizTalk – to design modern, cloud-native solutions.
Create and maintain architecture diagrams, design specifications, and best practice documentation.
Govern and enforce integration standards, policies, and security protocols across all projects.
Provide hands-on technical leadership in the development and deployment of complex integration solutions.
Develop high-performance, reliable, and reusable integration workflows, APIs, and messaging components.
Configure and manage Azure API Management (APIM) for API publishing, security, throttling, and analytics.
Implement advanced security patterns including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, certificates, and managed identities.
Write efficient code/scripts (e.g., in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or ARM/Bicep/Terraform) for automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics to ensure system health and performance.
Define and implement disaster recovery and high-availability strategies for integration platforms.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, providing expert-level support.
Provide insight into operational best practices, leveraging experience with managing mission-critical integration platforms.
Act as the primary integration consultant for project teams, business analysts, and stakeholders.
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers and engineers.
Clearly articulate technical concepts and design decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Work closely with enterprise architects, security teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with broader IT strategies.
Required Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of experience in software development and integration, with 3+ years specifically focused on designing and implementing solutions on Microsoft Azure Integration.
Proven experience as an Integration Architect with a strong portfolio of successful enterprise integration projects.
Deep, hands-on expertise with Azure Integration Services:
Azure Logic Apps (Standard and Consumption)
Azure Service Bus (Queues, Topics/Subscriptions) and Event Grid/Event Hubs
Azure Functions (Serverless compute)
Azure API Management (APIM) (policy development, developer portals, security)
Strong proficiency in programming/scripting languages: C#, .NET, PowerShell.
Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, XSLT, and EDI standards.
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform.
Experience implementing enterprise security standards and identity management (Azure AD, OAuth, SSL/TLS).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft BizTalk Server is a significant plus. Knowledge of BizTalk concepts (orchestrations, pipelines, adapters, EDI) demonstrates a deep understanding of enterprise integration patterns that are directly applicable to Azure.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Azure Integration Services specific certifications.
Experience with hybrid integration using Azure Arc or Logic Apps on-premises data gateway.
Experience migrating integrations from legacy platforms (like BizTalk) to Azure is highly desirable.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines).
